19 August 2013 KinkiSharyo to build new Californian assembly plant
On 25 July, the Los Angeles Metro board approved two options for 97 additional P3010 LRVs with KinkiSharyo International in a USD396.7m order for the under-construction Crenshaw/LAX line and to replace life-expired vehicles.
After the original order is fulfilled in 2017, the two options will be delivered with 22 cars from the first option assigned to the Crenshaw line, scheduled to open in 2019. The remaining six will replace life-expired P865 cars that entered service in 1990.
In 2017-18, 69 vehicles will replace the remaining P865/P2020 vehicles dating from 1995.
